More details from petition creator

A tenant can be evicted at very short notice if the landlord's mortgage lender repossesses the property, particularly if the landlord has not obtained the lender's permission to let the property.

The tenant may not even find out that the lender has started repossession proceedings until they are served with a notice of eviction, at which time the tenant can be forcibly removed from the property by the bailiffs in a matter of days.

With repossessions predicted to rise, the government should take action to protect tenants who are facing eviction through no fault of their own.
