After the sad story of Grace Vincent the tiny baby who contracted group B streptococcus meningitis from her mother, a carrier, a lesson needs to be learnt. This little girls illness was preventable, had routine screening for pregnant women been in place. It is done as standard in the USA and other European countries, we need to follow their lead as a matter of urgency. Prevention is better than cure.
