We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to humanise family law to accomodate rights of mothers as primary carers of young children unless they are proven unfit and for those cases in which mothers believe they have suffered a miscarriage of justice to be granted a judicial review in an open court without hindrance. Law to respect the roles of mothers. Young children should reside with the mother by law unless there is compelling evidence to show that the mother is abusive. These should be distinct from roles of fathers. Otherwise there will be no foreseeable resolution of custody disputes. To prevent abuses of ex-parte injunctions. These are granted on the basis of false allegations by one manipulative partner & unscrupulous lawyers, without the need to provide concrete evidence. To ensure such abuses are recognised & taken seriously by family judges. To ensure that judges are accountable for every point on the child welfare checklist, not just whatever takes their fancy or to disregard it altogether. To ensure decision on residence be based on who has been the main carer of the child throughout, & who can provide more direct care in the future , not on preserving status quo . To ensure that contact must not alienate the other parent- it must not be punitive unless the other parent has been proven to be high risk & it must be practicable & must be age appropriate. To ensure that conduct of the parents is examined by the judge in deciding who is the better role model for the upbringing of the child.
