Some companies, which have previously sacked British workers and moved production overseas to benefit from cheaper labour costs, are still claiming their tailored suits are 'Made in England' when the majority of production does not take place in this country.
This is misleading to consumers and undermines the skill and professionalism of British manufacturing. In addition, it takes jobs and investment away from the English tailoring industry, meaning we are not able to invest in and protect our artisan skills, which are widely acknowledged as the best in the world.
