That in order to actually offset carbon emissions, the charge for vehicle road tax be banded to the actual emissions per vehicle at time of MOT. This would encourage motorists to purchase more fuel efficent and greener vehicles, even those manufactured before 2001 as an efficient 2.0L diesel car is taxed at the same rate as a gas guzzling 4x4.
