We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to bring forward independent living legislation based on Lord Ashley's Disabled Persons (Independent Living) Bill within the lifetime of this Parliament to ensure disabled people of all ages and their families can enjoy real choice, control, equality and dignity now and in the future. Jack Ashley's Independent Living Bill would give disabled people of all ages enforceable rights to holistic support and real choice and control over their lives. It would: end the crisis in social care; deliver greater equality for disabled people and those who provide unpaid care and support (many women and many children)and enable more people to contribute to their communities and to the economy.
