We petition the Prime Minister to amend the Government Policy on Overseas Live Farm Animal Transportation. We request that these amendments should include the following: 1) That all animals destined for breeding, further fattening or slaughter should be protected by an overall maximum journey time of eight (8) hours. 2) That an Approved European Union Regulatory Standard Staging Post be provided within a 50 km road radius of Dover Harbour, Kent, to provide for emergency lairage, which would include regulatory feeding, watering and resting facilities for any animals being exported for the reasons defined in 1) above. 3) That there is a fixed prohibition on the loading or sailing of a Maritime Vessel carrying livestock in weather conditions amounting to either Beaufort Scale Force 6 or above.
