LNG is stored at atmospheric pressure at minus 161 degrees.The tanks are not designed to resist the overpressure of a Vapour Cloud Explosion. The Fire Service have practised with a leak of one cubic meter of LNG,each tanker contains 200.000 cubic meters.The Emergency Plans, Health and Safety Legislation calls for the withdrawal of all personnel,to allow an incident to burn itself out as at Buntsfield, while the Planners withdraw to Carmarthen or Cardiff the residents within the seven mile danger zone are advised to go indoors and shut their doors and windows. In 1978 Quatar such an LNG leak led to the complete destruction of the facility and destruction within a thirty mile radius.
