One recent suggestion was that all SPAMmers be "spanked in public with a wet towel".
While I don't advocate that particular measure, I do suspect that the low-life that try to stuff my email box with 10,000+ items per day would in some cases be particularly unwilling to be publicly shamed. It would be one more cost for the perps to count so that SPAMming is not seen by them as "free".
It might also provide a small feeling of natural justice for those of us who have had countless hours wasted over the years since Cantor & Segal.
