As outlined in a recent tv programme MPs are effectively immune from any form of redress if they lie to the electorate.
If an employee were to lie either to or about his or her employer he or she would, most likely, end up in serious trouble. It should be rembered that MPs are effectively employed and paid by the electorate and must be fully accountable honestly and with integrity to the electorate
