Low quality products are cheap to buy but soon fall apart (cheap plastic toys, cheap batteries, cheap cars, cheap shoes, cheap furniture etc.). Relative to the utility they provide, their environmental cost to society is high.

High quality products cost more but last longer. So, relative to the utility they provide, their environmental cost is low(er).

The cost to the buyer should include ´environemtal damage and waste disposal costs´ of the product that he / she buys.
