The DWP describes endometriosis as part of Pelvic Inflammatory Disease, a sexually transmitted disease. http://www.dwp.gov.uk/medical/med_conditions/minor/pelvic/ This information is completely incorrect. The cause of endometriosis is not known, but it is NOT sexually transmitted and you can NOT catch it. The DWP is perpetuating a damaging and uninformed myth that endometriosis sufferers have caused their own illness. It is irresponsible and insulting that the DWP portrays endometriosis in this way. We petition the government to categorise endometriosis under its own heading with correct information.
