There have been a number of cases in the United Kingdom where the perpetrators of what is reported as unimaginable cruelty to children have received life sentences or less. Such crimes are the most hideous and horrific that most people can imagine; as a deterrent to such crimes the ultimate punishment must be made available. It is vital that those in our society who are our most precious but are most vulnerable are protected.
