it is always the fear of cyclists to be in collision with a motor vehicle whilst being overtaken,it is felt that motor vehicles don't see the cyclist as a vulnerable road user and as such cyclists need the protection of the law in going some way toward this by making it law for a motor vehicle to overtake a cyclist with a clearance of 5ft or 1.5metres or more.
